We are making progress on our goal of keeping the Sweetwater Cal Fire station open year-round for fire and emergency services. The latest news is that there seems to be a funding source. A big thank you to Supervisor Dave Cortese.
However, we’re not done yet. We still need to lobby for final approval. The next meeting date will be announced when we know it.
We are requesting that you do either or both of the following, whether you are a local resident or not, because this is a year-round public safety issue for all traveling Mines Road, Del Puerto Canyon Rd and San Antonio Valley Road. Also, with the drought conditions there is a fire issue.
- Go to the meeting to add your support.
- Email or phone the following three supervisors to request they vote Yes on funding to keep Cal Fire Sweetwater station open year-round:
Supervisor Cindy Chavez, 408-299-5020. email@example.comSupervisor Ken Yeager, 408-299-5040, firstname.lastname@example.org
Supervisor Joe Simitian, 408-299-5050, email@example.com
The Cal Fire Sweetwater Station is located at the junction of State Route 130 and Mines Road.
Whether you are a resident, a landowner, or a visitor using the roads in this area, you will benefit from having local emergency services available year-round. See the petition text for details. (The petition is closed at this time.)
